Orinda Network for Education (ONE)
Orinda Network for Education (ONE) is an educational foundation that unites Orinda’s stakeholders to preserve and enhance our signature educational programs and provides for exceptional teachers and staff, promoting continued academic excellence for every student in Orinda’s public schools.
ONE strengthens, streamlines, and amplifies the collective fundraising efforts of all six of our Parents’ Clubs and Orinda’s residential, alumni, and business communities. ONE donations help to fund smaller class sizes, technology, STEAM programs, Wellness Centers and Counselors, middle school electives, expanded high school course offerings, including Honors and Advanced Placement classes, increased College & Career services, and more!
ONE’s Mission
The mission of Orinda Network for Education (ONE) is to preserve and enhance Orinda’s signature educational programs and provide exceptional teachers and staff to promote continued academic excellence for every student in Orinda schools. ONE strengthens, streamlines, and amplifies the collective fundraising efforts of Parents’ Clubs and the Orinda community.
To bridge the gap between state funding and the actual cost to educate each student in Orinda on an annual basis, ONE will:
- Support and enhance the educational TK-12 experience of each student in Orinda’s six public schools: Del Rey Elementary, Glorietta Elementary, Sleepy Hollow Elementary, Wagner Ranch Elementary, Orinda Intermediate School (OIS), and Miramonte High School
- Raise the funds required to advance academic excellence in Orinda public schools beyond what is possible with public dollars alone
- Provide a forum for all Orinda Parents’ Clubs to collaborate and share best practices, ensuring the effective, efficient, and equitable use of resources to enhance a high-quality educational experience for Orinda students, teachers, and staff
- Connect Orinda school Parents’ Clubs, local businesses, and community members in partnership through fundraising efforts to support education for all Orinda students
- Offer access to better investment opportunities with oversight and management by building an endowment, sustaining Orinda schools and the student experience into the future
ONE & Del Rey: Fundraising Mechanics
The fundraising structure of ONE was designed to ensure that parents’ donations directly benefit their child(ren)’s education and school. Each school, including Del Rey, has a team of parent volunteers who handle fundraising specifically from school parents. Those donations are allocated by the school - in our case, to the ONE - Del Rey fund. This ensures that your donations stay at Del Rey and are used only for funding our school’s annual budget. Your corporate match donations are likewise allocated to the ONE - Del Rey fund as well.
While school fundraising teams connect with their school communities, ONE’s board and staff connect with the Orinda community at large on behalf of ALL our schools, soliciting gifts from our Orinda neighbors and local businesses. Those community and local business dollars are allocated to the ONE - Orinda fund, benefitting all Orinda schools and, by extension, our community.
Representation & Operations
ONE is led and operated by leaders from each of the OUSD and Miramonte Parents’ Clubs. The ONE Board of Directors comprises representatives from each school and up to three community member seats. Del Rey is represented on the Board by Natalie Taquino. The organization was established on the belief that we are truly stronger together. The Parents’ Clubs are committed to collaborating to maximize fundraising and access local revenue opportunities while maintaining the unique culture and traditions at each campus.
