Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is ONE?
ONE is the Orinda Network for Education - a collaboration between the Parents’ Clubs of all the OUSD schools and the Miramonte Parents’ Club to simplify and improve school fundraising.
What is ONE - Del Rey?
ONE-Del Rey is the Parents’ Club’s fundraising campaign for ONE. We raise the money and decide how it is spent to benefit Del Rey. But the donations go to ONE (and your receipt will have ONE’s 501(c)(3) tax number) because all Orinda schools will do better, in the short and long term, by collaborating and by pooling resources controlled by their Parents’ Clubs.
What is the “ONE Ask”?
The One Ask is the most important part of simplifying fundraising. For many years, parents have been asked to donate twice yearly. Many (if not most) families never understood that fully funding Del Rey’s budget depended on donating to multiple campaigns. And sometimes families would give to just one, forgetting the other.
Now the Del Rey Parents’ Club will be raising all of the money it takes to fully fund Del Rey: $650,000 for the 2023-2024 school year. To support that budget, you will only be asked to make one donation - the ONE Ask - of at least $2200 per student.
What is the Relationship Between ONE and the Del Rey Parents' Club?
The fundraising structure of ONE was designed to ensure that parents’ donations directly benefit their child(ren)’s education and school. Each school, including Del Rey, has a team of parent volunteers who handle fundraising specifically from school parents. Those donations are allocated by the school - in our case, to the ONE - Del Rey fund. This ensures that your donations stay at Del Rey and are used only for funding our schools’ annual budget. Your corporate match donations are likewise allocated to the ONE - Del Rey fund as well.
While school fundraising teams connect with their school communities, ONE’s board and staff connect with the Orinda community at large on behalf of ALL our schools, soliciting gifts from our Orinda neighbors and local businesses. Those community and local business dollars are allocated to the ONE - Orinda fund, benefitting all Orinda schools and, by extension, our community.
